Do air conditioners in mobile homes condensate through the wall?

tattooed goddess asked:
I just went into my closet that shares a wall with the a/c and i got some papers out and they’re damp. Then, I notcied on the other wall that there’s a grey dust on the wall that has an odd odor. I’m goin to call the a/c repair man tomorrow morning, but I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what’s going on. It’s a central air conditioning system, not a wall unit. Thanks xoxo (:

ohh yesss.
they drip outside when you have them hanging outside the window.

if the temperature outside the mobile home is higher than inside, then there might be condensation. if the temperatures are really opposite, like too hot one side and too cold in the other, there might be more condensation.

You have some insulation problems somewhere if you have condensate issues.

You have air leaking somewhere.Check and feel around the entire unit with you hands.
That is not normal. You can purchase foil duct tape to repair it yourself if you feel like it.

I believe that your central air unit is on the roof. Mine was. It should drip off the roof down the side of the MH. If it is not draining through the systems outlet drain, it’s certainly possible that it is dripping down the wall. More likely I would think is that it is a leak in the roof, or in the bathroom plumbing. The powdery dust could be mold or mildew so be very careful and clean it as soon as possible……….Good luck!

NO THEY DO NOT CONDENSATE THROUGH WALLS,I THINK YOU HAVE A BLOCKED COND.DRAIN LINE,ITS PROBABLY BETTER YOU CALL SOMEONE TO FIX IT UNLESS YOU HAVE A SPARE BOTTLE OF NITROGEN,
LAYING AROUND, OR COMPRESSED AIR. THEY CAN BE A PAIN IN THE REAR TO UNSTOP SOMETIMES THEY, MAKE A TABLET YOU CAN GET TO PUT IN THE DRAIN PAN THAT WILL HELP DESOLVE THE GUNK THAT STOPS IT UP

You might have a bad draining pan!!!

First off look for a hole of some kind in the wall. If your unit is leaking it could have caused damage over time. Air blowing out the hole will take moisture with it.
The real problem is the A/C unit itself. If you don’t change the filter regularly (once a month) it will cause big problems…especially in a mobile home where there isn’t any room for anything anyway.
If it is the original unit and the home is old then you may have to have it cleaned. That should be done on a regular basis too.
The residue might be mold. Get a good mold cleaner (like rid-X) and clean the area completely.
