Family of five living in 1100 sq. ft. mobile home. Should I rent or wait?
My husband and I are young( early 20′s). Our three kids are 6 months, 2 and 4. We currently live in a 1100 sq. ft mobile home. It is nice and completley paid for. We own it. But it is so tiny.. The rooms are too small to share and right now the baby is in our room. There is no space for anything. I am going crazy trying to keep organized.
My uncle is looking for a house to rent all year for 500$ / month because half the year he is in florida. He asked if we would be interested in renting to him. He says he will pay 500/ month and take care of any repairs and upkeep.
My husband and I found a farmhouse that is complelety remodled. It is double the size of our current home. It has 5 acres with pond. The owner s asking 900$ / month for it. With my uncles 500 for my place we will have to come up with 400$ / month which is very resonable for us. My husband has a decent job and I go to college full time, and in 2-3 years we looking to buy.. just not yet.
Anywho.. I have people telling me I am selfish for wanting a bigger place when the place I have is perfectly fine and paid for and that I should just stay and save. It is just so hard to stay organized and keep clean with this many people. Is this a dumb idea to rent? I have never rented before and I am very nervous about it. Can anyone give me advise please..
also my uncle is extremeley rilable.. He has money, he is just looking for a small place here

Wait until your cash grows some more before you do anything

there are several points that you need to consider.
1 how secure is husbands job
2 how sure are you about uncles promises {contracts}
3 how much are the cost of insurance taxes and upkeep on new house
check all of these things out first so you are not blind sided later

I think you need to talk to the renter and see if you can reant with an option to buy.
before you move you need to take into condsideration of the amount of electric and other bills that will go up if you move
But once you go through eveything and you think you can pay for it go for it

I think its great but what happens when your uncle decides he doesnt want to rent anymore. And no you are not selfish at all I would say go for it if your bills are paid and you have savings in the bank in case something happens. What about buying a place or looking for a place land contract that rent is awful high think before you leap and good luck
