Sold home as is and now just one day after the sale the people want their money back plus $500 for “repairs” and time. I told them when they looked at time that the floors needed replaced and that water was not working now they want their money back and for me to pay them for the repairs that they did. All they did was lay plywood ontop of old floor and holes. Do I have to give them their money back plus extra if it was sold “as is” or are they stuck?????

As Is means they are stuck with it. Hope you wrote a bill of sale stating “As Is”

legally they can sue you — “as is” doesn’t hold up in court very well. selling damaged goods is a risky business — but i don’t think they can expect the extra 500 — good luck!

Done. they are stuck. If they have any problems with it, tell that you can have your attorny send them a definition of “as is”.

You need to look at the contract. “AS-IS” contracts are very specific. Here in Florida you have so many days to get any inspection you want, but after that you are bound to the contract. After the sale is just a little too late for them to whine. Enjoy your proceeds.

It is there mistake if they didn’t understand the deal. If you have it in writing you don’t owe them a dime. Some people are just difficult.

You don’t have to give them anything. That is what, “as is,” means. If you feel like you need to give them something, then you may be feeling guilty about selling them something for a price you shouldn’t have, but in this case, I would definatly only give them their money back…or maybe not even all of it. They made the decision to give you money, and then attempt to repair. This is all their problem, not yours.

They are stuck. These things should have been addresed by them before the sale since they knew about them. Unlike cars, houses don’t come with a money back guarantee if not satisfied!

If your contract included “as is” or the same meaning, let the buyer beware. You are not responsible.

They’re outta luck…but don’t be surprised when they serve you with a summons…most people who don’t understand plain English won’t give up easily.

You sold it as is and they bought it as is. The deal is done and it’s their place now…if they want to get an attorney that is their choice but as long as you made it clear that the home was being sold as is and it’s written somewhere then your fine.
